Dress
This is my chic, modern white dress. I looked at literally THOUSANDS of dresses online and in magazines before going to a store. This was by far my favorite. After seeing it I found I kept comparing every other dress to it. It was the first dress that I tried on, and everyone agreed that it was perfect for me. They discontinued it in July 2008, so I ordered it almost 2 years before my wedding. It is from Priscilla of Boston Vineyard Collection and is called Dolly.
Below are some pics of ME in my dress. Click on them to make them bigger. |

Hair
I definitely want my curls to shine at our wedding! I fell in love with this haircut. Haven't decided yet about veil or hair accessories, but this is how I want my hair to look.

Garter
Simple. White satin with a bow. Blue embroidery with "J <3 N."

The night before our wedding my aunt surprised me. She brought me my grandmother's garter. I wore it under my dress during our ceremony. It became my something old, something borrowed, and something blue! My grandparents were married June 24, 1950. My great-grandmother made it for my grandmother.
Bracelet
I bought this sterling seahorse bracelet in 2007 on a family vacation to Kaua'i. I LOVE IT! Except my rings, and any hair accessories it is the only jewelry I plan on wearing.

Shoes
Okay, so these are my shoes. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! They are SOOOO comfortable. The first time I tried them on, I was wearing sneakers. I took off my sneakers and put these on, and they were MORE comfortable. It's like they were made for my feet. :)

AND just in case it rains...I got these ADORABLE rainboots. A girl's gotta be prepared.

FI has been playing craps for over 10 years and LOVES anything with dice on it. I bought him these shoes a couple of years ago for Christmas. He only wore them once bc he didn't want to "mess them up." He wants to wear these with his black suit! :) I'm for it. He'll be comfortable, they are original, and we can't wait for some cute shots of the bottom of our shoes (his have dice pictured on the bottom, and mine have pink ribbons).
UPDATE: FI has now decided he's not sure if he wants to wear the dice shoes. He bought a 2nd pair of shoes (dark brown from Cole Haan) as a back up. We'll have to see what he chooses!

Suit
FI will be getting a black suit. We haven't picked a tie color yet or anything, but this pic gives an idea of how the black suit will look with white sneakers.
Okay, so he ended up getting a brown suit. Dark, dark brown, but still brown. It's a Prada suit style #UAA366. Below are a few pics. He doesn't have a shirt or tie yet, and he's wearing different sneakers in the photos, but it gives you some idea.

Tie
FI found this awesome embroidered tie at Hermes. I did a screenshot so you can see the dice up close. They are actually smaller on the tie.

Rings
Fiance's ring is in the style of mokume gane. Mokume gane is a method of metal lamination invented in Japan and originally used to decorate samurai swords. His ring will be custom made. This image is not his specific ring, but is more or less what it is going to look like. He's getting a wider band though.

UPDATE (2/5/2010): Fiance's ring came in yesterday! Below are some pictures I took of it. It wasn't easy to photograph. In real life the ring has a matte finish and the colors are much more subdued, but the flash on the camera was required to capture the details.
I am custom designing my ring & engagement ring. Yes, it's been almost 2 years and I STILL haven't finished the engagement ring design. Oh, well. I'd rather take my time and make sure I LOVE it. Both will be ornately carved bands in either white gold or platinum (haven't decided yet). My engagement ring will have a small antique diamond (I prefer small!!), that is european cut (it's an older, round cut that preceeds the modern brilliant cut).
This is an example of the style of wedding band I like, except I will be designing the exact pattern I want.
UPDATE (10/14/09): Yesterday we went to NYC and bought my diamond for the engagement ring! It's a BEAUTIFUL old European cut diamond. Based on the dimensions and style the jeweler estimated it was cut circa 1920. When the jeweler was showing us the diamonds my eye kept "catching" the same one over and over and I found myself comparing every other diamond to that one--just like when I found my dress, I knew I had found my diamond. :)

UPDATE (12/14/09): On Friday we met with our jeweler who is custom making my engagement ring & wedding band. We brought in a ton of sketches I had drawn and print outs of inspiration rings I had found online. Gary helped create some completed sketches and we paid the deposit before leaving the store.
Both my wedding band and engagement ring will have 12 clubs. The 6 of clubs playing card is very significant for us. We got engaged on 12/12 and are getting married on 6/12. So the numbers 6 and 12 are very important to us too. My band will be 18k white gold, ~3-3.5mm wide, and will have 12 clubs around the middle of the ring. The edges will have a simple milgrain and/or beading pattern (depending on what he can fit). My engagement ring will also be 18k white gold. It will have my diamond in a 6-prong setting with 6 tiny clubs in between the prongs. There will be 3 clubs on either side of the diamond, and the edges will match my wedding band.
Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the sketch the jeweler made, but a few of my sketches and inspiration pics are below.

UPDATE (2/15/2010): On Saturday I got my rings!! They both turned out BEAUTIFUL. Exactly what I wanted. I am so pleased. Even the jeweler was beaming when he gave them to me. He said, "the crown is a masterpiece!" They were both custom made from my own unique design and there are no other rings like them in the world. :)
The pictures make them look more antiqued than in person, but I love the classic/modern style of them both. I went with white gold instead of platinum so that they would get that antique patina over time.
